How does Hypnosis work.
Although few people, even professors and academics it seems, are unaware of the fact, there are thousands of scholarly studies on hypnosis. Extensive research has been carried out on hypnosis for smoking cessation. The most successful study on the use of hypnosis to stop smoking was carried out by Von Dedenroth in the 1960's who had a 94% success rate that was maintained for 18 months or more. Kline reported an 88% success rate based on a oneyear follow-up. Watkins, Sanders and Crasilneck and Hall all reported success rates in their studies of 67-68% with follow-ups ranging from 6 months to one year. I have also seen that the success rate is well in to the 90% range. Have these results simply been ignored or were they suppressed? The truth is that hypnosis has a much higher success rate in stopping smoking than patches or gum and is not a drug so it has no side effects.
What is Hypnosis? The word ‘Hypnotherapy’ means therapy whilst you are in hypnosis. Hypnosis is just a deep state of relaxation. Much like when you are having a daydream. You are unaware of your surroundings and totally focused on the story in your mind. The only difference with hypnotherapy is I am telling you the story; you are hearing it and seeing the images in your mind. The unconsciousness mind responds to images and emotion so it responds to your response to what you are hearing. So if you really want to quit for good then you will be sending that message to your unconscious where all habits are formed.
I CANNOT MAKE YOU DO ANYTHING YOU DO NOT WANT TO DO, SO REST ASSURED YOU WILL NOT CLUCK LIKE A CHICKEN OR HAVE YOUR MEMORY ERASED.
So if someone says, “I have had hypnotherapy and it didn’t work”, this would be as impractical as saying “I went to school and it didn’t work because I didn’t pass my exams.” A student would be influenced by the teacher and the method used by the teacher to teach and the willingness of the student of course.
Hypnosis has been scientifically proven to be the most successful method of smoking cessation. In fact hypnosis, at its worst, has the highest success rate of anything on the market. So why is this fact not publicly reported? It is very easy for scientific studies and their data to get lost in the global consciousness when the media does not take an interest, and therefore the information has gone unreported.
Can I prepare for hypnotherapy? It is useful for the person who is deciding to quit to just make the decision in their mind. Say YES. Back it up by cleaning out all the ashtrays, destroying or smoking all the last cigarettes. Have the last one at the door if you must. You ‘can’ stop smoking in one hour. Relying on your will power as you may have noticed in the past is not so successful. Because will power is coming from the conscious mind and habits come from your unconscious mind these are two different parts of the mind.
WHY NOT DECIDE RIGHT NOW YOU HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF WORRYING ABOUT YOUR HEALTH AND SPENDING ALL THAT MONEY!
I look forward to meeting you for your appointment to become a non-smoker.
